After a few months of construction, tweaking (and some twerking) and training we officially launch the Bush Radio Digital Broadcast studio today 1 May 2015 in honour of all the workers who have sacrificed for our democracy and helped to open the airwaves in South Africa.
The new digital studio will help Bush Radio to continue to be the leading incubator of young radio talent on the continent while providing listeners with the best quality sound possible.

WE like BASS in collaboration with theDANKISH and Bush Radio 89.5FM are teaming up to host a BIG BIRTHDAY BASH on Saturday, 1 September 2012: SPRING DAY!
The past twelve Capetonian months has seen the rise of two names synonymous with profiling the freshest underground bass music: WE like BASS and theDANKISH.
WE like BASS is a pop-up party hosted in alternative spaces. WE like BASS events feature cutting-edge local talent, constantly scouting for unconventional venues. TheDANKISH is a critical platform for local hip hop and bass culture and a radio show hosted on the Mother of Community Radio, Bush Radio 89.FM every Saturday between 6pm and 8pm.
You are invited to pop bottles with the WE like BASS and theDANKISH crews at this very special celebration.

Young, fresh and opinionated, cutting edge mix of radio journalists, street artists, TV camera people and other industry professionals. This dynamic and well travelled team have collaborated with fresh young people from around the world who aim to always give you TheDank!sh.
A few dankish examples of what they have in store for you are music reviews by Hip-hop producer Arsenic (music with a maniac). We’ll also be tracking the latest in street style developments from dank rides to fashion and all the dankish in between.
These are just a few examples of what’s to come.

“Are you bored of all the same old mediocre bollocks you find on the rest of the internet (and now radio)? Well so are we! We aim to inform, challenge, engage and inspire all out there to be thinkers, encouraging your opinions and participation in our quest to find the dankist things out there!”

We are inviting applicants from community radio sector in the Western Cape that have an interest in news and current affairs, to apply for this course.
The programme will achieve the following outcomes:
• Recording sound in studio and from location
• Collecting information for journalistic use
• Interview for journalistic purposes
• Presenting a journalistic story
• Report for a variety of journalistic purposes
• Operating studio equipment for production
DURATION OF COURSE:
The duration of the course will be 12 weeks (One and a half days a week), and sessions will be every Tuesday and Saturday.
VENUE: Bush Radio, 330 Victoria Road, Salt River, 7925
COST: No charge for tuition, training and materials as this training is sponsored by MAPPP-SETA. Successful candidates will pay a registration fee of R200.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
• Candidates must have a Matric or Grade 12 Certificate
• Must be unemployed volunteers for any Community radio station in the Western Cape
• Must be computer literate
• Must be available to attend an open day on the Thursday, 2 December 2010
• If selected, must be available to attend compulsory induction programme from the 13 – 17 December 2010 (includes 16th December).

The programmes were a big success, as it gave learners the chance to get advice from the actual people who draft and mark them.
Bush Radio has decided to make these programmes available online and so that learners could use them as a refresher and something to help ease their stress.
