This is the second time the show has been nominated and we wish the crew good luck and encourage them to keep being “so wrong, it’s right”.

Bush Radio 89.5fm is pleased to announce that The Wrong Rock Show was a finalist in the 2015 Mixcloud* Online Radio Awards.

Leading up to Bush Radio quietly celebrating its 20th “legal” on air birthday on the 9th August 2015, Mixcloud was sifting through 24 categories and over 5000 nominations to draft a shortlist for the 2015 annual Mixcloud Online Radio Awards in association with the International Radio Festival.

The Wrong Rock Show was 1 of 5 programmes shortlisted by Mixcloud in the Alternative/Rock Show category.

* Mixcloud – is a online music streaming service for the listening and distribution of radio shows, DJ mixes and podcasts. Its notable users include Wired, Harvard Business School, TED Talks, and Barack Obama.

UPDATE: JITSENIC – Combining Arsenic and Jitsvinger

Guitarist and hip hop artist Jitsvinger (Quintin Goliath), and hip hop producer and beat maker Arsenic (Gary Erfort)- collectively known as Jitsenic – will again join forces on Thursday May 24, at Ragazzi ,33 Long Street The iBuyambo Music and Arts Exhibition Centre, for a live set of experimental trigger rhythms coupled with a combination of rock, blues and Cape jazz.

Audiences can expect an eclectic, though futuristic mix of experimental sounds influenced by home-grown Cape jazz pioneers, as well as the golden era of hip hop.

The idea behind the music, says the pair, “Is to use familiar sounds, but to take those sounds to an unknown place while still relying on our skills to redefine the way that local music is created.”

Arsenic will bring to the fore finger drumming techniques and will trigger samples to create layers of sound adding to Jitsvinger’s poetic rhythms and jazz-influenced guitar-fuelled performance.

The night will see a special performance by Cape Town-based LnJ (Jill Levenberg and Razak Johnson) – two theatrically trained poets, singers and songwriters. This is a must-see performance, not to be missed.

Jitsenic will perform at Ragazzi ,33 Long Street The iBuyambo Music and Arts Exhibition Centre, 11 Bree Street, Cape Town, on Thursday May 24, from 9pm. Entry is R30.

Rocking your Mother

Besides the great talk programmes on Bush Radio we are known for the best specialist music shows – many of which have been running for more than 12 years like the Drum ‘n Bass show and Blues in the Bush.

We are also known for some of the best programme names – like The Unhappy Hour (which runs for two hours) and Gister se Dinge.  

With the success of the “Maak Victor Mal” slot on a Wednesday morning we have decided that we need to bring back more rock to the station. 

We are pleased to announce that on Monday the 12th April 2010 – the mother is going to rock. 

Tune into 89.5 FM or listen online to the Wrong Rock Show with Greg “The Hammer” Donnelly at 10pm, as he takes you on a journey beyond the limitations of the mainstream, to a place where vintage rock ‘n roll can rub shoulders with anarchic post-rock.
