Then Bush Radio 89.5FM has a position for you as a newsroom co-ordinator.
We are looking for a dynamic, driven, hardworking and enthusiastic individual with a flair for, and the basic understanding of the running of a newsroom who is willing to be mentored to help develop Bush Radio’s newsroom: in terms of policy, content, delivery (reading) editing and networking.
In return Bush Radio will offer the candidate access to local and international training as it becomes available, as well as mentoring by senior Bush Radio management in order for the candidate to develop into a fully fledge radio news editor.
Duties will include: Ensuring that Bush Radio adhere’s to its newsroom polices, that content is developed to meet these requirements, ensure that all content published by the newsroom (ie bulletins, online articles, current affairs, features) are of a high and constantly improving quality.
No formal journalism or media qualification is a requirement but would aid application.
An excellent command of English and a good general knowledge is a requirement as well as the command of one other language Bush Radio broadcasts in (Afrikaans or Xhosa)
Experience in working in a newsroom would be an asset.
This is a full time contract position (1 year contract after 6 months’ probation)
Salary R 4 500 to R 6 000 based on skill level and experience.

Bush Radio 89.5 FM, Africa’s oldest community radio station project is offering local internships in its programming department for 4 trainee producers.
The internship runs for 2014 and is fulltime*.

The internship provides opportunities for the candidates to develop skills in media with a specific focus on radio broadcasting but will include areas of new media and television.

Bush Radio’s mid morning programme The Morning Cruise (9am to 12pm) requires an intern to help produce and present the programme on a daily basis.
The internship is voluntary but a transport allowance of no more than R 1000 per month will be offered.
As an on-air producer intern you will be required to be available before, during and after the programme to assist with production duties (8am – 4pm, Mon – Fri).
Requirements and Personal attributes:
* Professional, attention to detail, good time management, willing to learn all aspects of broadcasting, be creative, a people’s person, be articulate and a team player.
** Fluent in Afrikaans (does not have to be formal Afrikaans, jy moet die taal kan gooi)and one other official language.

Bush Radio is offering a 6-month full-time internship (allowance of R2000 per month only) for the right candidate to assist and be mentored in the programming and logistics department.
The ideal candidate should be driven, creative, computer literate, have a good telephone manner, excellent administration skills, be organised and hardworking.
No formal broadcast or media qualification is required beyond a Matric and a valid driver’s licence.
The candidate will receive basic production training but this is NOT an on-air specific position as most of the tasks will be geared towards project management and admin duties.
The candidate will serve as a personal assistant to the Programme Integrator, and be a liasion between volunteers and the various projects implemented by the programming and logistics department of Bush Radio. Official working hours will be 8am – 4pm but will include after hours and weekend work at short notice when necessary.
