Africa Day on the 25th May is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), now known as the African Union in 1963.

Join us as we celebrate all that makes us African. As Africa’s oldest community radio station project, this day has a special significance to us.

The video clip above features an amended extract from the, “I am an African” speech by Thabo Mbeki at the adoption of the RSA Constitution Bill, 8 May 1996 and was made by our trainees a few years ago.

Make the children smile

Today (13 December 2016) the Beulah Welfare a non-profit organisation based in Mitchells Plain had a Christmas celebration for underprivileged children in the Rocklands area.

Bush Radio and Global Max Media partnered with the organisation to make the day a success.

There were over 300 kids, some were accompanied by their parents to join in the day’s activities which included face paintings, food and local entertainment and games.

Bush Radio celebrates 19 years legal

As we celebrate the 19th National Women’s Day in South Africa,  Africa’s oldest community radio celebrates 19th year of broadcasting legally in a democratic South Africa.

Saturday at 2pm marks the time Bush Radio 89.5FM switched on with a license from the broadcasting authority. The first person on air was volunteer news co-ordinator, Juanita Williams (currently the managing director of AllAfrica Global Media) who read the first news bulletin followed by former station manager, Farah Moosa and a host of guests from various organisations.
