With the stormy weather around the city and ongoing winter floods, staff members and trainees at Bush Radio paid a visit to a community project in Khayelitsha today.

The visit to the project formed part of the station’s ongoing community engagement programmes as well as to strengthen relations with other community based organisations.
Indlovu community Project, which caters for the impoverished residents of Indlovini informal settlement, was established in 2003 to cater for children through a day care centre.
However the project has since grown and now offers food and clothing to the needy residents.
The radio station donated vegetables for the project’s soup kitchen and staff members assisted in preparing supper for the residents.
Brenda Leonard, Bush Radio administrator said: “By volunteering our time at the project, we assisted them with food preparation for their supper and this gave them more time to work with other important chores”.
She added said it is important for community radio stations to participate in community upliftment projects.
